Family Business
Through a discovery process where everyone in the family business can share their thoughts and feelings, we uncover the underlying roots of the problems.
I help guide and facilitate the conversations to create a collective vision, values, beliefs and goals to make sure the business family’s legacy and prosperity is preserved for future generations.
Then we look at strengths and challenges together and prioritize appropriate solutions that is unique for a particular family business.
In this way, we’re able to come up with real, long term solutions to secure long lasting success rather than quick fixes.
How I do it…
As a certified Family Enterprise Advisor, Accredited Coach and Business Consultant, I don’t just go in and tell what you should do.
This would be a prescriptive approach which has several drawbacks….
Solutions are often “bandaid” solutions that only offer short term relief.
My Co-Active approach looks at the individuals involved as well as their strengths, connections and relationships they have with one another inside and outside the business.
3 Ways I Help Family Businesses

01
Start With a Free Consultation
We all need and want our families to be our spring board to help us move forward and a safety net when things get rough. In Family Enterprises if the relationships aren’t going well, it throws the balance off for the family, business and ownership sub systems. I help build alignment, cohesive communication, a shared vision and processes to build and maintain peace and prosperity into the future.
02
Secure Your Future Leadership
Passing the torch has many complexities. Does the successor have the capabilities, desires and commitment?
What are the gaps in the company that need to be filled in order for the founder to experience more freedom instead of being trapped with daily operations and challenges?
What are the strengths of future heirs? How can we play to their strengths so they can lead most effectively?
Effective business families bring in outside expertise to help train and mentor successors. My leadership development process grows capabilities and confidence of both family members and non family members who are essential to the continuity of the business.

03
Secure Your Founder’s Exploration of New Freedom & Passions
It’s challenging to look beyond the business when you feel you can’t step away from the day-to-day operations. Structures need to be put in place so future leadership can manage daily operations and founders can step back. However, the procrastination of succession is often due to more emotional reasons. Founders usually have their identity tied to the business. They ask themselves, “If I leave the business how will I be significant? What would I even do?”
If our identity in mid-life has been largely been built around our work, our relationship, our family, our children, our environment, our social life etc, the parts of ourselves that we’ve suppressed (to gain acceptance along the way) expands while the things we’ve built our identity around begin to contract. We feel tired, bored, lost and out of sorts.
Mid-life might be our quest to discover who we really are, our true essence.
I help founders ignite their torch and recalibrate their compass by exploring their true essence – who they are and what fulfills them through a fun, exhilarating process.
